Company History

The Beginning

In 1989--after many years working in all aspects of light and stage technology--Kurt Reiter capitalized on his experience and began working as a project consultant. After a while he realized that his hard work and first-class customer service had won him a vast number of customers, Kurd decided to start his own design and manufacturing business, which he named LDDE.

Kurt Reiter founded LDDE in 1989 as a „one-man show.“ Four years later, in 1993 he established LDDE Vertriebs GMBH (a Corporation).
In the past 15 years, the company has become one of Austria’s leading companies with over 25 employees and worldwide product distribution

„Light is Life“ is not only LDDE’s company slogan, but also the key to their success. At the heart of the company is a passion for light and technology.

From the begining Kurt Reiter and LDDE have had a strong customer-service-based mindset.  And as often happens in the  Theater world, since the beginning designers have come to LDDE looking for custom-made products or special-use solutions to their lighting problems.

LDDE remains a leader in providing superior customer service and custom design solutions, and it has become the basis for further product development.  LDDE products are generally developed out of close work with customers. Light Designers, Set Designers, and Architects bring LDDE special projects because they know their ideas will come to fruition.  All departments of LDDE participate to find product solutions of the highest technical and creative level.

LDDE’s Soc® Technology

Soc® Technology—smooth operator controlled dimmer technology.  This intelligent dimmer software makes it possible to have “step-free” control of DMX signals.  And Soc® has a reaction time of 20 milliseconds!  Soc® Technology interpolates and smoothes a DMX signal through the use an internal 16 bit processor. Soc® Technology provides not only linear regulation but also “flicker-free” crossfades—and even in the delicate range of 0-10%. Soc® Technology provides the basis for the RGB color-mixing systems in all LDDE products.
